We hope that you and your family are keeping well and safe during these complicated times. We also wish that those who have been able to enjoy a summer break have had plenty of rest and feel ready to face another challenging academic year.
As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic has been an unprecedented phenomenon for us all and the constantly evolving situation has presented us with new challenges on a daily basis. Time has passed since the outbreak of Coronavirus, but it seems that a return to normality is not yet foreseeable.
At the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), classes will start on Monday 28th September 2020. However, considering the current situation in the Canary Islands and following the recommendations of our health authorities, classes will more than likely start online in many cases. If the conditions become favourable with the passing of the weeks, we might be able to switch to blended learning, mixing in-class and online learning in order to avoid having big numbers of students in class.
The incoming mobility students who decide to carry on with their plans to come to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will be welcome to attend our classes online in the first instance, and hopefully physically on-campus and in class during part of the semester. However, they must be aware that, although all our regular courses will be delivered, their mobility experience might be altered by the current circumstances.
Nevertherless, they can be assured that they will be given the same opportunities as our students, both in terms of teaching and examination. In the case students would rather postpone their mobility from the first to the second semester, their home coordinator should get in touch with each School or Faculty to ask for a punctual change in the existing agreement. At the ULPGC, our intention is to reduce the number of restrictions or specifics in order to carry on favouring student mobility.
Thanking you for your understanding, we will be happy to answer your questions and assist you whenever you like.
