We inform you that applications are now being accepted for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree in Islands and Sustainability (ISLANDS MSc), a highly international and research-oriented programme offered jointly by four leading universities in Europe: the University of Groningen (Netherlands), the University of the Aegean (Greece), the University of Iceland (Iceland) and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain).

The ISLANDS programme offers students an exceptional opportunity to study the unique challenges and opportunities of islands from a spatial, environmental, social, economic and political perspective. Through a mobility-based structure, students spend semesters at partner universities on one of the islands, allowing them to gain first-hand knowledge of multiple island contexts and develop cutting-edge skills in sustainability, regional development and applied research.

As part of our outreach campaign for the 2026-2028 intake, we would be grateful if you could share this opportunity with your students, advisees, and academic networks who may benefit from or be interested in this advanced international research programme.

Full details on admission, requirements and necessary documents can be found here:

Applicants who submit their application by 15 January will receive a response in early February as part of the first round of admissions.

The admission deadline will remain open until 1 April 2026, and decisions will be made on a rolling basis. We have attached a one-page programme summary for your reference, which you are welcome to distribute to your student groups and networks.
